“Father AB, where you dey go?” Reu asked Abram as he set on a journey to the unknown.
“To a land that God will show me.” Abram answered, on his way out of Haran.
Reu leaned on his friend Serug, and whispered into his ears; ‘AB has finally lost it’. They both laughed mysteriously as they went on their way home.
This is what obeying God sounds like in the ears of natural men. Don’t be quick to judge Reu and his friend, these guys having been idol worshipers all their lives were only surprised to hear about ‘The Unknown God’ that had been speaking to Abram.
Hebrews 11:8: By faith, Abraham OBEYED when he was called to go out to the place where he was called to go out to place which he would afterward receive as his inheritance. AND HE WENT OUT, NOT KNOWING WHERE HE WAS GOING. (All emphasis mine)
Have you ever wondered how Abram sounded to people, when he was on his way to a land God said He would show him. He couldn’t give a definite answer. He most likely sounded foolish in the ears of people.
The only reason it now makes sense to you is because you read the bible in retrospect. Those who try to make sense to people every time always find it difficult to obey God.
Don’t always expect people to understand your moves, just keep obeying God . Instructions of the Spirit does not have to make sense, it only makes faith.
1Corinthians 2: 14: BUT THE NATURAL MAN DOES NOT RECEIVE THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD, FOR THEY ARE FOOLISHNESS TO HIM; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (All emphasis mine)
Obedience is an act of faith and faith comes by hearing. Be spiritual enough to discern what God would have you do per time, don’t always expect it to make sense, don’t try to explain everything to people; some will never understand. Just stay on the path of obedience and watch God honour His promises in your life.
The leading of the Spirit is a privilege of son-ship. We are led because we are sons, the Spirit is always speaking, just tune out of distraction to hear his instructions per time.
God bless you.
