Where you are today is the result of the choices you made yesterday. At every junction of our lives, we would have to make a decision that will greatly influence our destinies. You have the right to make your choices but you don’t have the right to choose your consequences.
Some Christians have lived with this lie for long; that God is only interested in their spiritual life, every other aspect is theirs to work out. Not so my brother! Not so my sister! God is interested in your entire well being, from spiritual to financial, to marital, to your next meal, your relationship and every other thing that concerns you. God is such a good, good father! Just a take a moment to rejoice in the fatherhood of God.
Some Christians on the other hand know God is concerned about everything but they wouldn’t invite Him into any aspect of it. They have believed this lie for long; that God’s will is always unpleasant and unacceptable. I beg to disagree.
As believers, we are expected to be led by the Spirit of God in EVERYTHING! Notice my emphasis is on the word ‘everything’. Allow God to be Lord in the affairs of your life. Stop handling life all alone, He wants to be involved. God is the best decision maker. He has given us the Holy Spirit as our advantage.Through Him, you have access to deep things, He brings to your awareness things to come. Oh what an added advantage!
Good options are not always God-options but God-options are always good options.
When God was to choose a king for the people of Isreal, He chose a young, handsome, tall man.
1 Samuel 9:2: And he had a son whose name was Saul, a choice and handsome young man. There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Isreal. From his shoulder upward, he was taller than any people.
The very first time I encountered this scripture, I was like Gosh! See precision! God didn’t just consider his heart or his tribe before making him King, He was specific and precise in his physical appearance. My goodness! God has the best eyes! And someone said God’s will is always unpleasant? Nah!
This was the pattern Samuel saw when he went to anoint the next King in Jesse’s house. He saw Eliab, the first son, the guy was also built but then God said No! He is not my choice this time. God is not stereotype in His patterns.
There is more to choosing than just the physical appearance. The leading of the Spirit must be your most potent factor in making a choice. The business deal might look good on the outside, but it might be a bait for you to lose everything.
The guy might be ruddy to behold but might be filled with substance within. And he could be built on the outside but might be a beast within. The guy might be good enough to be a husband but not a father. So girl, physical appearance is not enough to make a choice, your head knowledge or the assumptions you have gathered will also not suffice. Be led!
If you have two good options or many good options, how do you make the best choice? That someone is good does not mean he/she is good for you. The guy might be sound in scriptures but might be a bad leader if you have considered to make him one.
In Acts chapter one, the disciples were to replace Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus. They had two great options. Joseph and Matthias. These guys met their criteria, they were both fit for the job but just one person was needed. How did the disciples choose? They prayed!
Acts 1:24-26 (AMP): And they prayed and said, You, Lord who know all hearts (their thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, purposes and endeavours) indicate to us which one of these two you have chosen to take the place in this ministry and receive the position of an apostle from which Judas fell away and went astray…..and they drew lots between the two and the lot fell on Matthias and he was added to and counted with the eleven apostles.
They didn’t just cast lot, they prayed. They didn’t use their head knowledge only, they were led. They didn’t calculate, they asked God, even though both were qualified. This is the way to choose the best out of every great options. Sure this blessed you.
Whatever choice you make, you would have to live with the consequences, whether good or bad. Allow God, be led and be willing to obey.
