There are several voices in the realm of the Spirit, but the voice of the Holy Spirit will always be consistent with the Word of God. Test all spirits with the Word.
2Corinthians 10:4: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for PULLING DOWN STRONGHOLDS, casting down ARGUMENTS and EVERY HIGH THING THAT EXALTS ITSELF against the knowledge of God, BRINGING EVERY THOUGHT INTO CAPTIVITY to the obedience of Christ.
You cannot pull down strongholds, if you are not quick to discern every thought and voices that speak to you.
1. ARGUMENTS: Those thoughts are sometimes presented by Satan as arguments.
e.g When Satan came to Eve, he said, ‘HAS GOD INDEED SAID ‘ you shall not eat of every tree of the garden? So also when he came to Jesus, he said ‘IF YOU ARE THE SON OF GOD, command this stone to become bread’….
Jesus didn’t have to prove to Satan He was the Son of God, God already declared Him son in the previous chapter. Beware of subtle arguments that attacks the word you have heard.
2. EVERY HIGH THING THAT EXALTS ITSELF ABOVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD: Sometimes, the thoughts of the enemy can be wrapped up with scriptures. E.g when he came to Jesus he quoted Psalm 91:11: For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you, and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. Under the cover of ‘ I will give you the kingdom of this world if you worship me’.
Satan can introduce a thought of defeat to you by misinterpreting a scripture to you.
E.g you had a bad past, now that you are born again, he will convince you that you can’t have a great future because of your bad past and he can use a scripture like, ‘no sinner will go unpunished’.
My dear, it’s a scam! If any man is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.
Jesus overcame by declaring what was written. The word is our weapon of warfare, it is the sword of the spirit with which we cast down strongholds. This is why the word of Christ must dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16). The Word is a stronger evidence against every contrary thought.
Many are defeated because they have no weapon to fight with. The weapon you fight with is not the word you read but the Word of God rooted in your heart. Reading is not enough, praying the word and meditating it is the way we sharpen our weapon. The word is rooted in you when you pray and meditate.
In the scenario above, you can boldly tell the enemy, I am a new creation, the path of the just is as a shinning light, it shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day.
Devil might need to get a goggle cos your future will be brighter enough to make him go blind.
Finally, whatever things are TRUE, whatever things are NOBLE, Whatever things are JUST….PURE, LOVELY, OF GOOD REPORT, any VIRTUE, anything praiseworthy, THINK ON THESE THINGS.(Philippians 4:6)
