Dear Woman, I am sure the only memory of your early childhood you have, is the one mama told you,especially your first year. From the time you were born, she fed you, groomed you, looked after you till you were able to look after yourself. Real mamas never stop looking after you, no matter how old your are. If your biological parents can be this mindful, how much more God, your heavenly father. Now we want to examine your real identity.
WHY IS THE REAL YOU A SPIRIT? Like begat like, cat begat cat, dog also after its kind. God is a Spirit, so He gives birth to spirit. John 4:24-God is SPIRIT and those who worship Him must worship in sPIRIT and truth. God does not communicate with your soul or body but your spirit.
1. THE REAL YOU IS NEW. 2 Corinthians 5:17- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW CREATION; old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.
Your spirit man is new, no matter how old you are physically, once you get born again, you are entirely New. Old things no longer matter, even if you had been a murderer, a prostitute, an atheist and all sorts, the moment you come into Christ, you become fresh. A baby does not have a past, so also because you are one, old things have really passed away.
2. The REAL YOU IS RIGHTEOUS. The moment you were born, your parents would easily identify whom you resemble most, you probably took your pointed noise from your father, or hairy as your mother, or fair as both of them, these are all product of inherited genes, so also your spirit man looks exactly like God. You have his righteous nature. My dad says I resemble my mum a lot because I am very strong and decisive, well, I didn’t choose that trait, it’s also a result of genetics mostly. So also you don’t work to be righteous, because you have been born of God, His righteousness nature was imputed to your spirit the moment you believe. Romans 10:10- with the heart man believes unto righteousness….
Even if your actions are not totally perfect, the real you is still righteous. I can’t alter my gene right now, if if I try to modify my behaviour and act like someone else, my gene still remains the same. So also, if your walk with God is not as perfect as it ought to be, the truth is it does not alter your righteous nature.
3. THE REAL YOU NEEDS TO GROW…since your spirit was born a baby, there is need for it to grow. If your mother had left you unfed since the day you were born, you would be dead by now. As much as you feed your natural body, you must feed your Spirit more. Ask me why? There are potentials deposited in it, and those things won’t have expression until you grow. Also, there were many things your father prepared for you and investments he had in your name, but until you are grown enough you won’t have access to those things. So also, if you do not develop your spirit man, you won’t be be to access all the inheritance God has made available for you. Gal 4:1- Now I say that the heir as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave though he is a master of all.
How to Grow Your Spirit (The Real You)
1. Feed on the WORD (1 Peter 2:2- as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that YOU MAY GROW thereby. It’s time to get into the word, read it, study it, meditate it, confess it. The same way you are big on breakfast and all, you must give the same attention and quality of food to your spirit man. The more you feed, the more you grow.
2. Take the RIGHT DIET… if we are to open up some women and examine their spirits, we might be shocked to see a lot – belly, thin necked, ribs obvious person.. cos they have been feeding on the wrong stuff.
Acts 20:32- And now brethren, I commend you to God and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up….. it is the revelation of Christ that will grow your spirit, I would advise that you stay with the new testament for now, the epistles in particular, that is where you true identity is. If you would study the old testament, you must be able to see Jesus in it. Why? You are now under the new covenant, not the old. The old was made for those under the law, so you must be able to see Jesus, in the old. No man takes a new wine skin and join it with the old…. The end is always worse than the beginning….
3. Fellowship with the Spirit… Your mother never left you to yourself the day you were born, she acted as your nutrient, she nourished you with her breast milk, so also God, does not leave us orphans, He sent the Holy Ghost to mother us, help us grow daily, He is the Spirit of God, He would speak to your spirit, help you unlock the potentials within and hasten your growth daily. You need the Holy Ghost! I would probably write on how to receive Him later or you go to your local church and ask Him to be ministered unto you……
