The Real Woman and Her Purpose 3

IMG_9486Dear Woman, settle this, whatever has no eternal value or reward cannot be your purpose. When we get to heaven, we will receive reward based on how we carried out God’s purpose for our lives. (Both the generic and specific purpose). The generic is the ministry of reconciliation God has committed unto every believer(2 Corinthians 5:18). For those that have not been preaching Christ, this is a reawakening for y’all. The specific is peculiar to you.

A lot of us want God to bring us into the specific when we have not been faithful in the generic, you want to hear God in big matters when you have not obeyed in smaller things. Well, God does not skip process, and His principle of promotion is faithfulness in little. You belong to a local church but you have never served there but you are believing God to call you into ministry? Nah! Two major keys in knowing and fulfilling your purpose is OBEDIENCE AND FAITHFULNESS.

Fulfilling purpose is following God per time, obeying all His instructions to the minutest detail. God is not in the business of throwing people up, HE LIFTS UP. Lifting is in stages, faithfulness at a level would bring you into another. Peradvanture, you have been praying to know the specific but you have not received a direction yet, just stay faithful to the generic.

I remember my first personal evangelism, I was in my 100 level at Mozambique hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, Holy Spirit had been nudging me to go out and preach, but I had this feeling of inadequacy, said to myself, what will I say? How will I say it? Bla bla bla… So, one more morning, around 5:30 or 6am, I summoned courage and stepped out, (N:B -I didn’t know as much as I know now) I decided to be John the Baptist of our time, woke people up with my message, like the voice of one crying in the wilderness…..(there are better ways to approach this, wisdom is required in doing it ) well , a lady came out and chased me away, said she was reading and my preaching was disturbing her. I am laughing right now because I still remember the day vividly, it was 7 years ago. Well, I said to myself, this is a very good excuse not to preach again but the Holy Spirit never let me be.

So I started one on one evangelism, in my 200 Level, I would go from one room to another, crave people’s indulgence for few minutes, meet them personally and share my faith, well it got better than  my 100 level days,I’ld preach in buses, ( which I still do, because pulpit ministry can never replace personal evangelism, you might not just be able to do as much as before because of greater responsibilities attached to your higher calling). That you don’t belong to that unit in church doesn’t exempt you from this responsibility). All these times, I knew there was more to me but I didn’t know what it was, I just kept on obeying God per time, doing what He would have me do.  So really, knowing and fulfilling purpose is all about obeying God every step of the way. When God would have me enter the specific( start a teaching ministry), it came like every other instruction, it wasn’t a thundering voice or resounding -water like voice, the nudging came as I have always perceived it.

You might have been praying and believing God to know His specific purpose for your life but you have no direction on it yet, my advice is that you stay faithful in the general purpose. I want to believe you belong to a local church, serve in all capacity that you can. Maintain a steady and consistent fellowship with God, obey Him daily. He might nudge you to give to someone, do it, He might nudge you to pray for someone, don’t procrastinate, give yourself to His course, serve Him with all that is in you.

Also, another misconception women have concerning this subject is that marriage is their ultimate purpose. My dear, Christ didn’t empty Himself of reputation, became man and died for you so you could only get married. Before Christ came, people had been getting married. Christ death would be in vain, if it was only for us to get married. Marriage can never be your purpose, but can help you fulfill it. It is only a platform like your profession is. Knowing your purpose would define who to marry, so stop idolizing marriage, besides it has no eternal value. Or you have read in the scripture where Jesus said ‘welcome thou good and faithful wife’. God will reward what you did with it and while in it but no one gets rewarded for getting married. Don’t get too busy with who to marry that you forget what God has called you to do. Marriage should never hinder your purpose, it should enable you to fulfill it.

Knowing your purpose helps you focus your life and channel your strength in the right direction. It concentrates your energy on what’s important and defines how you live your life.

My prayer is that your eyes of understanding will be enlightened that you may know the hope of His calling. Amen!
