Romans 8:14- For as many as are led by the SPIRIT OF GOD, they are the sons of God.
Have you ever tried to get to a place you have never been before and you are confused on the path to take, then suddenly someone shows up to lead you right to your destination. This is one of the major role of The Holy Spirit in our lives, to guide us. John 16:13- However when He, the Spirit of truth has come, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH….. God has designed The Holy Spirit to guide us, not just in The Word but also into purpose fulfillment, marital, and every other facet of your life.
In the last post, I mentioned that the Primary way the Holy Spirit leads us is by the INWARD WITNESS, it’s only believers that can be led not unbelievers. Jesus is the gift of God to the world but Holy Spirit is the gift of God to believers. The inward witness is like a check in your spirit, you might not be able to explain it, you will just know this is it and this is how to go about it. Purpose is a journey, not an event, Holy Spirit will lead you into it per time, this is why you must develop your spirit and learn to follow His leading.
For example, God wanted me to start a ministry in Ilorin, reach out to some folks, be a blessing to several but He didn’t show or tell me all this while I was praying concerning my internship, I just knew it was Ilorin. I remember when I first came here, graduates from my school were not allowed to write exam or be interviewed because my school was lagging behind, we had not been inducted so we were sent back, all hope to do internship there was first shattered, so I was forced to take other hospital’s forms. I went to different places, but something in me kept saying I am only on adventure, I knew it was Ilorin but didn’t know how. They already employed our colleagues and they had started work.
Few months after, I decided to go to Ilorin, I remember calling my mentor that faithful day and said ‘I don’t have anyone but I am sure I have God and His favour is upon me’. It’s a very long story but I will keep it simple, I finally got there and after three days, I was given an appointment letter. No pressing of button, no long leg, no exam, no interview, just God’s favour and the leading of the Spirit. I knew I had to be there, It was about a month after that I knew I was to start a ministry there. All by the INWARD WITNESS. Can you see purpose is a process, if I had not followed the nudge to be there at first for internship, the nudge to start a ministry would not have come. God’s plan for your life is in phases. If you would follow the Holy Spirit, He will bring you into each phase per time.
I remember the night I was to be given appointment, it was the third day of my visit, something woke me at night, I prayed for few minutes, but I was still not satisfied, a scripture kept leaping in my spirit, Nehemiah 2:1-8, it’s about receiving favour from Kings. I stood up and I prayed in the spirit for about an hour. That morning, the CMD signed my form and asked that my appointment letter be printed immediately. I don’t know him from Adam but he was the only one that could employ you in the hospital. God made a room for me already in the city, Holy Spirit led me into it. When you pray in tongues, it is your spirit that prays, so it picks information, direction and instruction from the Holy Spirit, so you will just know what to do. If you want to make a decision and you’ve been praying concerning it and suddenly you get this check in your spirit, like a red signal, it’s INWARD WITNESS telling you not to do it, but if while you pray, you have a nudge like a green light, it’s the INWARD WITNESS telling you to go ahead. This is the primary way God will lead you.
